The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco A Book Club Mystery Laura DiSilverio Books

Reading the Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco made two first reading experiences for me. First of all, the book was the a first in new series and it is the first book I have read by the author Laura DiSllverio. I enjoyed the book very much.

A close knit group of friends have a reading group. They meet at each other's house to discuss a mystery book. The selection this time was the Maltese Falcon. One member of the group dies the next day and the police rule it as a suicide. Amy-Faye, the protagonist, does not believe the suicide verdict. She works with other club members to solve the mystery. She receives threats while investigating and puts herself in danger with her straight forward personality. She also channels Kinsey Mallhone as in what would Kinsey do.

Amy-Faye is an event planner. One of her events is helping plan her ex-boyfriend's wedding who she still has feelings for. There were many suspects and motives for the murder. Could the motive be infidelity and the jealously it brings with it? It could be greed or corruption. There were red herrings and the clues were there if one recognized them as clues. The only drawback for me was when Amy-Faye hid possible evidence from the police. I know it was used to advance the plot. I did not have the murder solved by the time the author chose to reveal it. I changed my mind quite a few times as who committed the murder.

This is one of my favorite brand new series that I have read this year. I liked the characters, the premise of the book club, and the plot. I am looking forward to reading The Workaholics and the Poirot Puzzle that will be published at the end of the year.

The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco A Book Club Mystery Laura DiSilverio Books Reviews

I was tipped to this new series and am very happy that I was. This lively story grabbed my attention from the start all the way to the end. Amy-Faye moves back to her hometown (re-named "Heaven" by the town fathers to attract more tourist traffic) in the Rocky Mountains. She operates an event planning business and belongs to a group of friends who call themselves "Radaholics". I will try not to give away anything, but this forst book in a new series features Amy-Faye (or A-Faye as her friends call her) planning a wedding for her former boyfriend, except she isn't sure she really considers him in the "former" category! Things become complicated; she meets a new guy, the hard way and the story takes off. I can't wait for the next installment!
I've never been to Colorado but I was transported to Heaven, CO and I could picture myself walking down main street and enjoying the beauty of Lost Alice Lake! Event-planning business owner Amy-Faye is a member of a book club, the Readaholics. When fellow book club member Ivy is murdered Amy-Faye and the gang set out to solve the murder.

All of the characters were well developed. We learn a little bit about Amy-Faye's past relationship with Doug and we meet her eccentric parents and her brother Derek. The book club members are quirky and diverse. Maude does computer repair and web design but spends most of her time posting to her conspiracy theory blog. Kerry is a realtor and the mayor of Heaven. Brooke struggles with wealthy in-laws and Lola has a degree in chemistry but came back to Heaven, CO and turned the family farm into a plant nursery. Each character adds a piece of the puzzle to the mystery.

There were several sub plots and plenty of twists and turns with a few red herrings thrown in. A nice surprise was the coded message Amy-Faye found! The storyline was cleverly presented and the dialogue was engaging.

I look forward to the next book in the series, The Readaholics and the Poirot Puzzle, which will be released in December 2015!
“The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco A Book Club Mystery”, is the first in this series of cozy mysteries written by Laura DiSilverio. This mystery is fast-paced, full of humor along with engaging characters in the Heaven, Colorado community.

Amy-Faye (also known as A-Faye) Johnson is an event planner and owner of Eventful! The Readaholics Book Club is composed of six women who are mystery lovers. After attending a book club meeting at Amy-Faye’s home, one of the book club members (Ivy Donner) dies. The police rule Ivy’s death as a suicide, however, Amy-Faye and her book club members do not agree. So they use their mystery reading sleuthing skills to prove it was murder. To add to the drama, Amy-Faye must plan the wedding of her ex-boyfriend Doug Elaston, who was the love of her life, to Madison Taylor a New York City lawyer. Drama endures throughout the story through various sub-plots.

This cozy mystery book was hard to put down and a fast read. The author demonstrated her ability to tie together an excellent mystery with just the right amount of clues and drama with a surprise ending. I loved the characters, especially Al Frink, Amy-Faye’s assistant, and Lindell Hart, chief of detectives. The only deltas I have for the book is I wished there was more background on each of the book club members and more information on why Amy-Faye’s mother, who is a retired librarian, has gained so much weight.

As a “readaholic” myself, I look forward to reading the next book in the series, “The Readaholics and the Poirot Puzzle”.

Life is good, sorta, for Amy-Faye in Heaven. Colorado. She is back in her home town, owns her own event planning business. her own home and and has a book club, the Readaholics, with all of her good friends. How could it be better than that? Well, maybe a boyfriend could help, but she has her off and on boyfriend/best-friend from high school so actually she really does have that covered.
True to form, just as you feel secure in your with your life, something goes south and this happens big-time! First she is asked to plan a wedding for her boyfriend and his fiancee, (not cool, not at all) and then she literally finds a friend who has committed suicide.....or did
she?
Read this entertaining mystery and you will find out. I promise you will enjoy this book, I would recommend to all.
